State Termite & Pest Solutions, is, quite simply, the termite expert. Our staff is university-trained, state-licensed, and has successfully treated literally thousands of homes and properties in Stark County and the surrounding areas.

For the past seven decades, we have inspected every kind of structure and building. We have seen termite infestations from the earliest stages, to extremely severe cases of termites. North-east Ohio has termites in rather regional locations, and we happen to live in one of those areas. It is often said that homes in this area either have had or will have termites! Before you came here, you may have done your homework on the web. If so, you probably found that there are more than one way to treat for termites – you may even have researched the possibility of “Doing it yourself”. If so you may want to read the following extract from the National Pest Management Association website.

So you’ve decided that termite treatment is better left to the professionals – which method of control should you choose – liquid barrier treatment or baits?

You need to know a few facts before you can make a good decision. Both methods have advantages and disadvantages. Here are the main ones:

Liquid Barrier Treatments

Advantages -

Liquid treatments have been around a long time and the relative costs have come down.

Some newer termiticides (chemicals that kill termites) have been shown to be relatively rapid-acting.

Most companies have experience with this method and can perform a standard treatment.

Disadvantages –

Hundreds of gallons of chemical are pumped into the walls, foundation, and surrounding soil of a home.

Over-spills and contamination of lakes, streams, sewers, etc. can occur.

A complete barrier is often difficult to achieve, so termites can still find ways to enter the structure unaffected by the treatment.

Retreats may be required to treat areas where termites continue to feed.

Odors can persist.

NOT environmentally sensitive, since damage to fish and wildlife can occur.

Baiting Systems

Advantages –

Baiting systems are usually environmentally sound – only grams of chemical are introduced into the environment – not gallons.

No drilling, messy spills, or odor.

Non-invasive – stations are installed in the soil surrounding a home, occasionally with a small station secured to specific locations within the structure.

Certain baiting systems, such as Sentricon, offer Total Colony Elimination. The colony doesn’t just stop feeding in your home – it’s completely eliminated.

Disadvantages –

Not many. May be somewhat slower acting, although newer formulations have shown the ability to control termites in just 2-3 months.

May cost somewhat more – although most estimates are comparable to liquid barrier treatments.

Does require periodic inspections but many homeowners see this as an advantage, since trained inspectors visit the property periodically and can quickly identify any termite activity

Not every company offers Sentricon – only Authorized Operators (State Termite & Pest Solutions is an Authorized Operator)

So what does State Termite & Pest Solutions Offer?

Well, it’s probably clear by now that although we can offer any of the above options, our clear favorite is the phenomenally successful baiting system – Sentricon.
