In general, preparation means laundering and bagging bedding and clothing, removing heat-sensitive items such as aerosols, candles, medications, and certain electronics, and clearing access to walls and furniture so heat can circulate. Pets, plants, and people leave the treated area for the day. Preparation is the part of the job that most affects the result, so we do not leave it to guesswork.

Heat kills the bed bugs present in the treated space on treatment day, including the eggs. What heat cannot do is stop a brand-new introduction later from luggage, a guest, or second-hand furniture. When people report bed bugs returning after a treatment, it is usually either an untreated adjacent area or a fresh introduction from the original source. Our technicians inspect for both and tell you what they find.

Most residential heat treatments are completed in a single day. The exact time depends on the size of the home, how many rooms show activity, and how long the structure takes to reach and hold temperature. Our office confirms the schedule and when the space can be reoccupied before the appointment.

If the inspection finds evidence of spread along shared walls or through moved furniture, treating one room only pushes the problem into the next, so we scope the treatment from what the inspection actually finds and explain why.

The most common early signs are bites that appear overnight in lines or clusters, small dark fecal spots on sheets and along mattress seams, shed skins near sleeping areas, and live insects about the size of an apple seed in seams and crevices.
